At the large investment banking firm I left decades ago, there was flock of 25 to 40 year old single women who worked for low wages just so they could troll for a new husband. Every day they were dressed up sexy, waiting to learn about any top executive who was getting a divorce or was losing a wife to illness. These men would be given lots of attention often with homemade treats and invited to her place for a homemade meal.I hired a handsome new executive who I knew was married with a few kids but whose wife stayed so the kids didn’t have to change schools in mid year. He told everyone he was getting a divorce and he was “entertained “ for six months and probably never had to buy a dinner. I wondered how he knew which of the ladies was a good cook.
The firm also hired primarily men to be trained to be new stock brokers. It was a six month training program at headquarters and the men were 22 to 55, and living away from home. The ladies trolled this bunch too looking for great prospects.
I was told all I had to do to get a daily lunch and blowjob in my locked office was to leak to my secretary that I was considering a divorce. She would leak the word to the female husband seekers.
