Lome, Togo Beach Resort
In December 1981 I had a training course that took place at a tropical beach resort in Lome, Togo in West Africa. The resort had guests from Europe, as well as vacationing expatriates who were working elsewhere in Africa. It was a de facto top-free resort, and I have previously reported about the scenes at its swimming pool and the beach.
It would have been hypocritical for the government to enforce textile wearing at the resort when topless Togolese women from the interior were commonly seen in the Lome city market.
In any event, standing on the room balcony, there was almost always a topless European woman (sometimes 2-3) to view on one of the other balconies.
