Lots of people don’t want to be the one who gets blamed for their classmates getting internet-famous. Lots of places seem to have a rule (written or unwritten) that vids and pics can only be shared on private social media, so that the people who have access are mostly the same people who saw the event in person. Please, by all means, go out and film some of these events and share them here. But if you’re not contributing or even hitting the Thanks button, but still feel entitled to other people’s work and risk (not to mention talking crassly about those people’s friends and classmates), you’re adding to the reasons the primary sources (videographers) don’t want to share, while also making us secondary sources (people who share what we find on the internet) annoyed. You register for free, but you become a MEMBER by sharing and thanking.
