Martinez pulled the 18-year-olds over on Aug. 5, 2016, for running a stop sign on Alligator Alley, near the Miccosukee Reservation. He found a small amount of alcohol and marijuana in the car, and told them to follow him down an isolated road where he put forward the bizarre command to take their clothes off and run, or go to jail.
The two ran. In testimony during a Broward trial in October, they both said they felt intimidated, threatened and as if they had no choice but to follow Martinez’s orders.
