Hard to say for sure, but her reaction makes it sound like she’s very defensive because she did, at least back then. Probably not recently or she wouldn’t have told you she saw him.
It would be odd for her to almost leave you and take your daughter if she wasn’t fucking him regularly then. To get to that point, she must have been very involved with him. Including sexually.
