Also: I don't like to give spoilers of what's going to be on my list. But I'd like to gently remind everyone that my year-end review list is, and has always been, a list of my
personal favorite things of the year, not necessarily what may or may not be considered the
best things of the year, as I always make a point of saying in my annual disclaimer. So, if you're pinning your hopes on any one particular thing making my list, or being in the top 10, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. Take that however you will.
Secondarily, that's why I always end my list by asking all of you what your favorite things of the year were. My list has always been intended to stimulate discussion so that we can each share what our personal favorite things of the year were and hopefully find some great stuff that we may have missed, but hardly anyone ever takes me up on the offer. Somewhere along the way, my list seemingly began to be considered as the be-all, end-all arbitration of what was good in any given year, which it was never intended to be.
Anyway, this is totally off-topic and self-indulgent, so please carry on.
