The hair brush handle is a classic! My wife confessed using one back in the day too. Another couple of ex girlfriends did so too. I guess sex toys were hard to get for young women then.
Currently my wife owns a couple of dildos (the rabbit classic one) and a few butt plugs/beads (Silicone, some with jewel). She enjoys the little jewel plugs a lot but only on special occasions. We have a few bigger ones that she's afraid to try yet, including a furry Fox or Cat Tail that's a bit larger on the plug side than she expected. We'll get there for sure!
