I had a buddy in HS, and we spent many afternoons with our crowd at the beach. Although she was American like us, she'd spent much of her upbringing in Europe, and explained to us that she just had different habits. She was totally open talking about her pubes, and always had a pair of tweezers with her for pulling out strays peeking out of her suit. Back then she wore a tiny bikini, so needed to pluck both the top and the sides of the bottom. For the sides, she would lean back, spread her legs, pull the fabric to the center and pluck out any strays, one by one. For the bikini line, she would just push down with one thumb and use the tweezers with the other hand. A few minutes later, she'd be smooth everywhere outside of her suit.
Years later at a reunion, we found ourselves together again, down on the beach. By now she was married with two kids, still extremely good-looking, and was now wearing one of those one-piece bathing suits with the high-cut leg openings that come up nearly to the waist, with an extremely narrow strip in front. You've seen that style of suit on competitive swimmers: in the crotch area as much skin is exposed as would be with a thong turned around backwards! So, there was quite a bit of area to keep clear. When she took off her shorts, it became very apparent she hadn't done much grooming before flying out to the reunion, so once again she got to work with those tweezers. This time it took nearly an hour, all the time with her discussing the advantages of tweezers over razors, and showing us the proof.
