Though he's never said, I think it's the Nikon Coolpix P900 or Coolpix P1000, as they've zoom capacities FAR beyond any camera I've ever heard of, with 83x optical zoom and 125x optical zoom respectively.
Blacks Beach has high sandstone cliffs (really high. Maybe 300 feet?). The angle looks about right for that, thus the zoom capabilities have to be very high. No pixelation indicates strictly optical, so there ya go. Check out some YouTube videos and you'll see what I mean. Please share your results once you have your new gear.
