If I were in his situation, I'm not so sure my conscience would be clear. It might have been an accident, but it still happened and with him being a God fearing, church going man, let's hope his feelings of guilt doesn't make him do anything rash, like confess all to his wife. That would open a whole can of worms you wouldnt want to deal with.
