There are two ways to request a notification e-mail when new posts are added to a thread.

One way is to select "Instant emailnotification" from the "Thread Subscription" menu when you are making a post.

The other way is to select "Subscribe To This Thread" from the "Thread Tools" menu when you are viewing a thread.

To answer your other question, no, there is no minimum amount of photos or videos you must post to remain a member.
