I think it is a matter of comfort level, if they trust and enjoy working with the guy, they will stretch their limits. Way back when my wife was taking a photography class it college they had to pair off on an assignment of a human study. Most of the people in the class were female, but she ended up with one of the guys, she said, 'he was just a nerdy as I was".
Part of the assignment was developing the film in the lab, this was the 70's, so some of the art hippies had nudity in their shots, but it was not required. She shot him first, he was a little chubby, so she worked with shadows on his face and arms. When he was behind the camera, he asked her to d**** herself with a sheet, he also asked her to be nude under it, she was reluctant, but after he explained the shot she went for it. She said he got several peeks at her boobs and bush in the process, the best shot he took was great, it was so good we framed it and we kept for many years. She is against a white wall, the white sheet is being blown against her, her nipples are visible and in the full shot, so is her bush. He made a joke just as he clicked and she has a huge smile on her face.
We cropped out the lower part showing her bush before doing a print for framing, it was still suitable for family viewing.
