Know that feeling; something comes out of the blue and choices are made. At that age my default was usually similar to what you did - had a steady GF then and we were way too serious. Though there were plenty of opportunities for something on the side usually opted not to go down that road. But frequently when looking back would be kicking myself for not pursuing the more fun alternative - not necessarily sex as there can be many mutually enjoyable steps along the way.
