But attitudes do change with time. It used to be that only the Yakuza had tattoos, so tattoos were seen as a sign that you were a gangster. But that idea has lost it's earlier derogatory connotation and, as a result, more ordinary Japanese are getting tattooed. In my opinion, the time will come when girls reject the 'prostitute' idea and decide for themselves.
