At first I was like, "Hmm. RB has opened this post with a joke. A joke that is a little funny, but not hilarious, and which has nothing to do with this thread. But, over the years Rhinoxxbaby has posted a lot of things that I like so hey, if they (sorry, I don't know if you are he, she, or they, so I'm hedging my bet and going gender-neutral) want to open with a line that tickles them, who am I to judge?"
But somewhere near the bottom of the post I saw a look on one or two faces that said, "Uhh... Again?" And then I recognized the pictures' common theme - the subjects were all used to some dork who was constantly trying to surprise them and catch a nudie pic. Suddenly the joke was not just kind of funny, it was also germane. In fact, it succinctly and subtly defined the theme by suggesting the subjects' mood. And just like that, it transformed from kind-of-funny-but-confusingly-placed one-liner, to quite funny and cleverly used descriptive caption.
I typically try to give benefit-of-doubt pretty freely. But Rhinoxx, baby, you have just earned it. From now on if you've written something that doesn't make sense to me, I will look really hard for what
I might be missing.
Oh, and also thanks for the photos. (Although I can admit it: the
REAL reason most of us come here is for the terrific sampling of linguistic craftsmanship. I.e. all the pretty words!
