Sorry, but this kind of beahavior is really fucking weird for me.
I agree with you up to a point. There could well be some weirdoes out there, and the media is full of tales of women in the public eye, actresses, singers, newsreaders, who've been hassled by people who are quite frankly unhinged.

On the other hand, it could merely be a case of context, admiring a woman's beauty and wanting too see more. A case of putting a name to a face. You've not done that with the ladies who work in the accounting department of your place of work? Whether 16 or 60, sometimes you'd like to refer to them as 'Betty and Wilma from Accounts'. Similarly, someone might like to refer to 'Ana' from Uzyna Uzona, rather than 'that brunette with face painted like a native'.

I'm sure we've all wanted to contextualise some woman who've been in our lives in a peripheral way. For example, I was listening to some Serge Gainsbourg records this afternoon and started thinking about 'that skinny English actress who was his wife'. I know her name, by the way, and I'm able to contextualise her in that sense, without being creepy about it. It's Jane Birkin...oh look, a photo of Jane Birkin...oh look, a film with Jane Birkin is on TV tonight...a Jane Birkin record...

It doesn't have to be for some creepy/stalking reason. Not everyone is going to want to turn up at Jane Birkin's Parisian apartment with flowers and chocolates (although one or two loons might if they knew where she lived).

Granted, looking up someone's Facebook/Instagram page after that and sending a 'friend request' or any of that nonsense is way beyond weird.

Anyway, that's my thoughts.

But we're not really here for the psychological discussion on people's motivations, are we? On that basis, here's some screenshots from an (un)dress rehearsal in May. My favourite girl features in photos 5-7
