We used to travel a lot with my wife's mother, so we have shared lots of hotel rooms with her. We had sex once while her mom was getting ready in the bathroom (I posted about this), and recently we had sex while her mom was reading on the other bed (I posted about that time, too). I have told a few people, that they aren't surprised.
My wife has had sex with her ex b/f during college while his best friend was in the room "sleeping." (She later admitted that he wasn't sleeping, but not really watching either.)
When sharing hotel rooms, I don't think having sex while others are there are unusual at all, even though people typically assume the other party is well asleep.
