British woman arrested after she ‘walked naked through Gran Canaria'

She has been identified as mum-of-two Sophie Shambley, who moved to the resort from Wigan weeks ago.

Mystery surrounds the incident on the island, after police said they had arrested a 30-year-old woman who had been seen wandering around naked while her children were home alone.

But Mrs Shambley’s husband Shaun insisted she had been inside their home with the children, who are aged four and one.....

Civil Guard officers did not name her in their statement, identifying her only by her initials, S.G.S.

Their statement read: ‘Officers arrested a 30-year-old foreign woman on June 23, who was on holiday in Gran Canaria and was staying at Nayra Street in Arguinegin which belongs to the municipality of Mogan.

‘They went to the area in question after receiving several calls about a woman who was apparently inebriated and walking naked along one of the streets of Patalavaca, while her children were throwing objects into the street.

‘When officers arrived, locals told them the woman in question had returned to the place where she was staying moments earlier.
