First of all, your photos are excellent. One advantage of your second floor perspective is that your selected subjects are not blocked by other riders. Another advantage is that the bike handles do not bar the view, so to speak. For some here, that's important.

However, I do understand that a stationary location is limiting.
I personally love the Fremont event, including the parade itself. It is uniquely inclusive, featuring all races, ages and body types. I think that you would be welcome despite your age or condition. They seem to be a welcoming group. I wouldn't worry about my physical appearance. As every used car dealer or realtor knows, paint covers a multitude of sins. Art galleries feature the painted work, not the canvas it's painted upon.
As a septuagenarian myself, I would personally have stamina issues about biking the whole course. But if I lived in your area, I'd try to find a way to participate as a volunteer. Apparently, they need them. In post #24 in this thread, Da Vinci provided some links that could guide you to the proper people.
Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have fun.
