Can I just say, is the real concern here server space? I'm sure WNBR threads must be amongst the most memory hungry on OCC. But I also can't help noticing that the posts which get (by far) the most thanks here are obviously those with pictures, and that those who do post their own photos here tend to post just a handful with a link to drive their Flickr views up. Which is a perfectly valid approach.

I don't know how WNBR threads compare with others for views/new OCC subscriptions, but feel certain they do very well indeed. If they were put behind a paywall I understand the issue about 'stolen pics' becomes central, but I think that could be a solution if server space is an issue. But when any old mug can take at least screenshots of online images, might it be a good idea to list online all photographers who have requested their images not be posted here? And after all, as I see it, once an image is downloaded it would be insanely pedantic to remember its source.

The more pressure that is put on users to post only their own photos, the more incentive there is for mobs of snappers at already intrusively photographed rides. (I should maybe point out, btw, that it looks to me as if after the weather did for the main 2016 rides, this year the UK rides seem to have soared again- boo to naysayers).

Great work with the posts so far from 2017 everyone. Am still wading through the river of photos, and appreciate everything that is posted here.
