Count me as another one who was blown away (wink wink) when I found out how common it is.
When I was in my mid-20s, I was chasing after (friendzoned by) a younger girl (Caitlin, 21) who was really really tight with her high school friends (3 girls and 2 guys, in particular). One day, it was me, Caitlin and her friend Jen, hanging out at Caitlin's house. Jen was complaining about the date she had the night before, saying the dude wanted a blow job without buying her dinner or "even paying me".
I thought she was joking or misspoke, so I joked along like "yeah he should at least give you $20"
Jen said "exactly!" with a straight face and Caitlin nodded along like there was nothing weird about it.
A couple minutes later, Caitlin went out to walk the dog, and Jen and I stayed behind. The second Caitlin was out of earshot, I turned the conversation back to the $20 blow jobs. Yes, she actually expected to be paid on a date (without a fancy dinner). Yes, she's given head for money before. Every answer she gave made me harder and harder. I had to do it, so I pulled $20 out of my wallet and said "can you blow me before Caitlin gets back?"
She didn't look offended or excited or anything at all. Just nonchalantly took the money and got on her knees in front of the couch where I was sitting, unzipped me, and did it. Actually the best I'd had at that time. Came in her mouth in no time.
Eventually it dawned on me that, if Caitlin and Jen thought head for money was normal, maybe their other friends did, too. Was meeting up for the movies with Caitlin, Jen and their other friend, Emma. Emma and I both coincidentally got there early, so I decided to push my luck and offered $20. We found a hidden corner of the parking lot outside and I came in her mouth. (Actually we almost got caught that time)
I think it was probably just their weird insular circle of friends that made it normal there. Emma told me that the 2 guys in their group had fucked all the girls several times (for money). I never had the nerve to make the offer to anyone outside that group, since I figure most people would be freaked out by it and it would ruin the friendship.
