Folkestone. Facebook showed 130-odd going. I had a feeling nothing like that many would turn up and the actual number was about 20, but that was definitely at least partly to do with a huge delay on the M25 which stopped people getting out of London and just about the worst possible weather you could ever have in July. Just as the ride was due to start, there was the most amazingly insane black sky over the town. The inevitable deluge followed. It was cold and it was windy.
I'd been in nearby Hythe for another event so went up. Caught the ride near its premature end. The riders all looked like they had some awful diseases - but they were various odd colours where their body paint had been washed almost away. It was pretty much the usual die hards who never miss a ride, plus one young lady who braved the awful weather.
The weather gods have mostly not been kind to the UK WNBRs this year. Apparently WNBR Chelmsford had even worse weather.
