I think there is something to this. She was already skinny-dipping when she decided to return to her spot and put something on. My wild guess is that - for some reason - she decided to put her bikini back on to swim. Perhaps there was sand in her bottoms; so she decided to shake it off as he walked back to the ocean. When she saw that all the sand was out, and didn't need to wash it out in the ocean, she just put it back on before entering the water.
I agree: many women who want to wash out their bikini - for fear of getting sand in their couch - will typically walk out to the ocean one last time with their bikini in hand to wash it out. More often than out they do it naked; as shown in that thread:

Some will do it bottomless. Heck; I've even seen "shyer" women put their dress back on before doing it; which made no sense to me given they stood a greater chance getting their dress wet than getting sand out of their bottom.
