You were wrong. It wasn't 'a load' of fat middle aged men on bikes. It was 18, and one of those was the notorious Mr Folding Bike, who was supposedly banned from every UK ride
Plus 3 completely dressed women, wives of the organisers. Even some of the real stalwarts who used to do pretty much every ride were absent this time round. Maybe a big load of riders joined in later on...but I doubt it very much
I was in the area anyway so thought I'd go along to the start. Really, I just can't see the point in this ride happening when the turnout is so low. Other than a handful of curious people just outside the castle grounds, no one seemed remotely interested as the small group made its way into town. Weather was about ideal too - sunny and very warm.
