Military Drills v. Real Life Medicine
I purposly left out real life military drills from the discussion. What was interesting about the St. Elsewhere premise was that it was "anti-hospital", ironically. In such a real situation, doctors and nurses would not be doing naked surgery, but instead, working to create a clean environment for procedures. I dare say that once this was built, everyone might be around everyone else as they got decontaminated, BUT, UNLIKE THE SHOWS PREMISE, THE STAFF WOULD ASAP (OR, STAT IF YOU PREFER) BE IN CLEAN GREENS TO PERFORM THE DUTIES. That's why this struck me as just B.S. In medicine, fresh clothing MEANS decontamination.
