Believe it or not, during my military career (both training and real world working) I came across several instances where it was necessary for people to strip in a public/semi-public area. The two that stick out im my mind was live chem training (this means real nerve agent present) and a real-life EOD response. Part of the chem training was the hotline and in that you take off one layer of gear or clothing at each station until you are being scrubbed down while completely naked. During the majority of the training, no chemicals were actually present so you ended up in shorts and a t-shirt, but in the live chem sessions you had to do a full decon as your life may depend on it. These classes were co-ed, unfortunately the men outnumbered the women about 10 to 1. The real life situation involved a 'landmine' which was actually a 500 pound bomb with a very sensitive magnetic fusing. This fusing was so sensitive to fluctuations in the local magnetic field that it could pick up the fillings in your teeth under the proper circumstances. While working on them we wore cotton shorts, t-shirts, socks, and approved foot wear (no metal eyelets, etc.). For men, this only meant stripping down to your underwear to put the stuff on, but women had to take off their bra's since at the time most had some sort of metal in it such as the underwire or the hooks. Those two incidents probably stick out in my mind the most as those were the only two times females were present.
