...I think the reason is that the places are so obscure. You either know where they are or you don't. Trying to find them on Google etc takes up a chunk of time that people may want to better spend looking at tits n bums.
Personally, I would rather spend my free time looking at Q's lovely body than trying to find a specialist site that tells me, for example, about vintage roadhead tunnelling machines !
