So I lifeguarded at a pool with a co-worker who was on the cheer team at his school... he claims it's basically a non-thing, even though it seems like it would be hot. Reality is that you're both performing an athletic move, focusing on execution and safety, so just like in wrestling or football where you aren't feeling gay about grabbing a guy in whatever way you must to get him down, this is equally not sexual at all.
Of course while I agreed with the logic, I never fully believed him
I play co-ed volleyball with some chicks that are in incredible shape and they wear those short spandex shorts, and during the point I'm competing and oblivious to the hotness, but at any given break I certainly enjoy catching my glimpses, just as I'm sure these cheerleader dudes enjoy their lifts.
