When I was in Malaysia in the mid-70's

As to Asian girls 'catching up', they will - sooner or later - because most girls have a tendency to be vain, and Asians are no different in that respect. When they see just how much more attractive the female body is without that unsightly hair, they will begin to follow suit - and once it starts it will gain momentum. I have to admit that I do feel sorry for the 'bush lovers', as much as I disagree with them, because they are now facing the same bleak prospect as I did all those years ago. But, as they say in my part of the world, "Chacun son tour", "Everyone in their turn"!

There was an aversion to shaved women in the Chinese community. I was told that men would refuse to have sex with prostitutes who were shaved. There was a famous ex-stripper named Rose Chan who ran a strip club (this was before the country became much more puritanical over the next decade) and as the MC, she used to ask tourists to guess the color of her pubic hair in exchange for a free round of drinks for their table. When she showed that she was shaven, it was quite shocking.
