3 tales...
1) Some years ago we posted some pics of us....and a few months later found them being re-posted by someone claiming to be the people in the pics....got quite angry when we told them the pics were of us...... We contacted the site and it was proven...and (maybe too harsh) the fake poster was banned from the site (not here). That sparked a lot of anger and comment from others on site
2) We stumled across some pics of friends we know - of them at a party......a very adult party... where we had also attended. The rules of no cameras were clearly stated. Became quite obvious who had taken pics and they were confronted. All the denials under the sun....so someone suggested that it was time to expose the culprits.... That had an interesting impact...they were WELL annoyed....
3) My error...a bit worse for the falling-over-juice...I posted some pics on a chat page to someone who I had chatted to before..... The two were re-posted in seconds and then a message arrived with a "I think I know who u are...." comment. Some careful discussions later and we determined we did know each other - and thankfully open minded discussions decided to "leave things as they were"
Morals........DO NOT post when under influence, TRUST does not mean the same to all people...and IF you post someone when they did not want to - be prepared to be posted. Don't put ANYTHING on-line that you would not want parents or offspring to sometime see..........
