Default Back from Calf

We are back from our drive down to see the Redwoods etc. and a bit of Northern California. For all the talk about a water shortage down there we only saw two signs and was only asked once if we wanted water and that was in Ashland, OR. Other than that we saw a number of lawns being watered.

There was no snow to be seen and every thing was dry dry dry from Medford south. Did see one burned area near Yreka CA. and there was smoke hanging in the air in the Redding areas.

Stopped in Calistoga to see the geyser, it had been about 30 years since I had been there and the water shortage had really cut down on the volume of its eruptions, too. Wines were being made in volume as always in the Napa valley so water must not be a problem there.

All along the California and Oregon coast fog and more fog. Crescent City's Historical Society Museum is most interesting and the 1964 tsunami exhibit just reminds you of how it can all be wiped out and so quickly too. The redwood hwy. was a nice drive other than two accidents, one so so and one real bad where it looked like a SUV lost it on the shoulder rolled and tore itself apart along with a lady and her three kids. Sad sight. Took time to stop and see a good friend and his wife in Santa Rosa. Leo and his wife Danielle suggested dinner and I have to say I had the best meal of the whole trip in old town, too. Thanks Leo.

This time I let Sheila take most all the pictures. I have to say I've got a very fine collection of guardrail photos out of it too. It would appear Sheila sitting in the RAV-4 is just at the right height to get them in most any photo she shot from the road. I'll have to get her a box to sit on next time so she can shoot over them.

1,960+ miles, three states many more cities and numerous rest stops we are back. A bit tired with a sore back from driving too much but well worth the time to see once again with my Sheila. So much fun to see the sights with my love. She's a fox and fun to travel with and better yet we still like each other. All and all a very fun drive.
