Extensions will come and go and site designs will change, but as long as "protected" albums are using JPEGS, you'll always be able to grab the images using the development tools that come with the browser. Many other methods would probably be easier, but they won't always work for all sites, and they may stop working when the site is redesigned. To download any protected file on any site, even ones that disable the right click, you can hit F12 in Chrome, then either:
1. Ctrl-F to search for the image URLs in the "Elements" tab. For example, Flickr image URLs always seem to include "farm" in them. When you find a URL, copy and paste it into a new tab. Or "Open link in new tab" if that option is available (which it isn't in the "protected" images in Flickr's current design)
or
2. go to the Network tab, enable it, click the "Img" tab at the top, and reload the page. It will show you a list of all the images loaded on that page. You can right click on the image file name, and choose "Open link in new tab".
Either way, once you have the image open in a new tab, you can save it to your computer like you can on any other page.
It's slow and maybe not a lot of fun for nontechnical people, but I can't think of any time it hasn't worked for me, even with Flash photo albums.
