Why a semi-naked woman asked strangers to draw hearts on her body

A young woman stood in the middle of London’s Piccadilly Circus in her underwear with a blindfold.
She held pens in her hands and stood next to a sign reading: “I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or self-esteem issues like me… To support self-acceptance, draw a [heart] on my body.”
By the end of the day she was covered in dozens of hearts all over her body with tourists and locals telling her she was ‘brave’ and ‘amazing.’
Jae West decided to do this after spending years struggling with an eating disorder through high school and her early twenties.
Along with social awareness group The Liberators International (who filmed the whole thing), she came up with the idea to stand in her underwear and ask strangers to accept her.
On a blog, she explained it was inspired by Amanda Palmer’s TED talk where she talked about stripping naked and allowing her fans to write on her.
