If you are using Firefox you can get an extension called "Ant Video Downloader". You can dowp it in your toolbar. andone click will start any vid that is playing on that page. If tyhere is more than on, you can choose which one

Also if you want to chane formats (i.e. avi to mp4) on a locally stored vid or one you are downloading you can get "Any video Converter" Link here
