I wouldn't do it for the sole reason that it encourages this business strategy. If we all "bite the bullet" and buy into it, then whoever made the idea will point to it and say users are willing to pay to use interactive stories which will eliminate any chances of them getting rid of the program or even encouraging them to take it further.
I've been to many sites that have slowly inched into a pay format, and if this is successful, it's wouldn't be a long shot to see needing a basic membership to see anything past chapter 25 or so in an interactive story.
