Seems like my wife and I have camped forever. First with just a blanket and some branches leaned against my car, using those old type canvas and wood framed lawn chairs. After we married we had a dozen different tents. Then RV's larger as we had more kids. Eventually a nice Class A motor home then a 5th wheel RV.
After retiring we bought a regular low topped Chevy van. Not a camper. I put an airbed in the rear where the rear seat folded down. Storage was under the bed/seat. We liked this because we were going to a lot of bike events and car shows. The van could be parked most anyplace.
I added a rear AC and micro wave for when there was electric. We'd use the water spigots or restroom sinks to clean up and wash dishes. Here's a tip. I'd use a quart themos bottle to pee in right in the van. Dollie had a wide mouthed quart juice bottle. In the mormings I'd sneak them out by a tree to empty then rinse them. Sure works better than peeing in a sink.
Camped with that van seven years before buying another small RV.
