Wasn't she nice looking though? She is my hometown girl so to speak and I followed her from the beginning of her time in the national spotlight (where so many begin here in Track Town USA), and she stayed in the competitive running world for a long time. She still holds some records not beaten in America.
Her performance in the '84 Olympics marked the beginning of an often less than graceful decline, in which she allowed her own ego and sense of entitlement to outpace her remarkable abilities. Ultimately she was banned from the sport in the manner of Lance Armstrong. But ya know she is 56 years old now and she still comes out once in a while with a surprising performance.
