Let us know how it goes. I agree with others that you shouldn't tell his wife you saw her.
I'd tell your wife that you feel he's a little off, but wouldn't tell her why, and it's best to keep your distance from both of them.
Personally, I feel this is a perfect example of: Never shiit where you nest. It's tempting to involve the neighbours but it's also so easy for it to go wrong.
