Why can't you tell your wife that although you love her pussy the way it is, you'd like to see what it would look like with a landing strip or more? It's not insulting to her and shows that you take an interest in the way she keeps it. You could even work out a deal with her. (Personally, my wife usually keeps herself bald for me and I do the same for her, because she likes me that way. Whatever it takes to make her happy and get me laid more often is a good thing!)
