continuing the conversation
I said to her "If you're good friends, you could just bring it up and tell her you would be more comfortable next time if, you know...you don't have to stop going there. And I'm sure if you invited her to your place she would be more proper as a guest." (not that I would mind, of course, I was just trying to dispense reasonable advice).
"I did, after her brother left the room I told that was so weird to me and she was like, it's just family. Doesn't your brother see you naked sometimes, she was like what's the issue."
Simone's answer to her friend caught me by surprise, "I was like, only once or twice but never with my friends around and it was just for a minute or not even. That's totally different."
I had to ask, "what's the difference?"
"Ok, one time I didn't know Andrew was home from school sick and I was brushing my teeth with the bathroom door open..."
"...and you were naked?"
"yeah, I just got out of the shower and I thought no one was home, and I was brushing my teeth and when finally looked up he was standing outside the doorway staring at me. I was like so freaked out, I had no idea he was there (laughing) and how long he was there! I slammed the door closed as soon as I saw him. He's so disgusting, he was like you might as well open the door, I already saw everything anyway..."
I always knew that Andrew was a sneaky little brother...
I wondered how much of the full story she was telling me, but didn't push and let the conversation move on. I don't know if she went back to that friend's house but I do know that her attitudes towards nudity shifted over time.
