thanks for the tips. i use another method which seems less complicated. using firefox,
display the largest picture available, mostly X2, go to an area OUTSIDE the picture so you can rightclick
and choose [in dutch "pagina info bekijken" ] something like "look at page info" the " see source " option is right above that choice. a screen opens, click on the media tab and scroll down until you see the desired size which you can download [ this is for instances that "normal" downloading is disabled ] should the O size not be visible it very often helps to change /0/X2/ in the url to /0/O/. in that case you have to copy the url with 0/X2/ in the media tab and paste it in an empty explorer page and change to O then. dont bother about the -X2.jpg in the filename. you can name it as you like.

reading this back it looks extremely complicated, must me my lousy command of the english language but it's really only a few mouseclicks. it gets troublesome when there are 1500 pictures.

sometimes it is too easy to tell to get the "download disabled" pictures, both on smugmug and flickr, simply by using
"bulk image downloader" which is free [with restrictions] go to an area outside the picture[ or pictures on a page ], rightclick and choose the BID download option which is integrated in the shell [after you have installed the software ofcourse] BID downloads then all "forbidden" photos in the largest size available. the best program i ever had to download pictures is [was] saleen flickr downloader, or now saleen webdownloader but all of a sudden they both do not download anymore. everything looks normal but it downloads nothing. really a pity. dont know what happened.
