Almost every sexually experienced woman has encountered at least one man who is adept at pleasuring the cleft between her thighs. These oral sex specialists are often perceived with a sense of wonderment and awe for their seemingly innate ability to bring a woman to her knees with a strategic flick of their tongue. Referring to these cunnilingus enthusiasts as “muff divers” or any other equally base term fails to adequately convey the finesse and awareness that they possess. We need to create a better term.

Admittedly, “muff divers” and other similar terms have undeniable punch, but they are really not descriptive. They may emphasize the activity but fall short in describing a unique kind of man. Today, when nearly all men engage in oral sex – either for pleasure or out of obligation – referring to one as a “muff diver” does nothing in telling us who he really is. It is also rather misleading and not a little unfair to blend the usual run-of-the-mill male “cunnilinguist” with that special class of man who derives absolute pleasure and delight when performing oral sex.

As I have said, we need to create a better term.
