It's interesting to note that some athletes compete are now competing in completely different sports, just to chase that elusive gold medal at the Olympics. For the U.S., there's Lolo Jones, who was a track star, but has also competed in the bobsled competition at Sochi.
I wonder what the catalysts for such a career change are. Perhaps it's their failure in their initial sport, or their adaptability to new sports. How did they rise through the ranks so quickly, bypassing others who put their entire lives on hold, training so hard so that one day, they would get chosen to represent their nation. Doesn't that seem like robbery of a spot on the national team?
