I occasionally come across the same problem
spike, I think it's more a problem with the particular file's you are trying to upload, rather than a software glitch this end.
If you have an uncooperative set of file's that won't upload in the correct order, try uploading the photo's one at a time, sure it's more time consuming, but aleast you can be sure that they have been uploaded in the correct order.
