A steamy sex scene featuring Tom Cruise’s preggo fiancee Katie Holmes mysteriously disappeared from her new flick and Hollywood suspects that control freak Cruise may have had something to do with the disappearance!
That’s the buzz from the Sundance Film Festival where “Thank You For Smoking” screened sans the Katie-Aaron Eckhart tryst that had been onscreen when the film debuted at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, according to the New York Post.
In the flick, based on the best seller by Christopher Buckley, the mother of Cruise’s baby-to-be plays an investigative reporter who does the horizontal mambo with Eckhart’s tobacco lobbyist.
“It’s never been altered,” a confused spokeswoman for Fox Searchlight said of the finished film. “It will absolutely be released with that scene. We don’t know what happened, but we’re looking into it.”
During a Q&A, director Jason Reitman surmised that the down-and-dirty frames were lost in a “technical glitch” during a reel change. He later quipped to the same question at another screening, “If you want to see a sex scene with Katie Holmes, rent ‘The Gift’ ” — the 2000 movie in which the former “Dawson’s Creek” cutie appears topless.
