Back in the eighties, I was in university in Montreal when there was a transit strike. I was driving back from a soccer match and, doing my civil duty, I picked up a cute young hitch hiker and offered to drive her home. She was french speaking, but with my limited french skills, I soon discovered that her boyfriend had just broken up with her. She was quite upset and was fishing for compliments the whole time. We soon got to her place. When I stop, she leaned across and started to passionately kiss me. She didn't say anything, she just pulled on my hand to indicate I should come inside with her. I didn't hesitate. Once inside we were ripping our close off on the way to the bed room. Total time from meeting her could not have been more than 15 - 20 minutes. She had never even told me her name.

That is how I learned to appreciate worker's right to strike and french Canadian girls.
