In HS, a group of people went to Japan on some sort of school trip. They went to rural Japan where they didn't realize there would be communal bathing (separated by gender, of course).

My friend told me a story about the communal bathing there. She was a small, athletic, and slender American girl.

She said her group was real nervous about it at first. The first time was embarrassing, but they eventually got over it after the first few times (except for one modest girl, who would only visit the bath house at odd times of the night). Over time they became comfortable and would goof around in the bathing area.

One time, as my friend was changing, a group of new American girls walked into the changing room. Apparently, they didn't know how these communal baths worked so when they saw my friend naked, they all gasped and covered their eyes, apologizing profusely for walking in on her. At this point, my friend was comfortable with the nudity and she told me she confronted them, arms akimbo at her sides, giving a full-frontal view. Apparently, this made the new girls even more hysterical. She told them that they would have to do the same thing, since this was how Japanese public bathing worked. My friend told me the look on their faces was priceless. She never told me what happened after, but I imagine that the whole group of newbies would have had to change and bathe in front of each other for the first time.
