Maybe the mothers are trying to regain their youth by shaving their vaginas - it's probably quite a kinky thing for an older woman to do, whereas for the daughter, it's probably more kinky to have an unshaved vagina in this day and age where celebrities are flashing their bald beavers all over the place.
