I know this is an old thread, but I managed to sort of repair the unplayable part of the file (starting at the 5 minute mark). I did it by chaning the it into a series of inmages then turning the images back into a movie. Couldn't get the sound, sorry.
Windows movie maker will let you watch the whole thing, unfortunately it won't let you save it.
