Well Air NZ bought Ansett as a commercial venture - not a bailout - and paid 30% more than Singapore Airlines bid, perhaps a reflection on their commercial nous?
Yes the fleet was old but Air NZ did due diligence as did Sing. Air.
The NZ g'vt bought 80%+ of Air NZ to bail them out - no bail out for Ansett.
Air NZ asset stripped Ansett including their Superannuation Fund - talk to ex Ansett employees who never got paid their full super entitlement.
